BAF, for short, is a new biofilter wastewater treatment process developed in Europe and America in the late 1980s. It was developed in the early 1990s, with a scale of several hundred thousand tons per day, and developed to be able to remove nitrogen and phosphorus.
Aerated biological filter is a kind of biofilm treatment method, but it still has obvious characteristics compared with traditional biological filter.
The coarse and porous small particle filler used by BAF as biological carrier can maintain a high biomass on the surface of the filler (up to 10~15g/L), which is easy to hang on the membrane and stable in operation.
Reasonable structure, low biological complex, flora reactor has obvious characteristics of spatial gradient under high organic and hydraulic impact load, different pollutants can be in the same reactor was gradually removed, synchronous play a role of biological oxidation and biological flocculation interception and physical adsorption effect, good water quality, can meet the reuse requirements;
Different from the general biological filter and biological filter tower, the removal of BOD and ammonia nitrogen requires aeration, but the granular packing layer has high oxygen transfer efficiency, low aeration volume, low operating energy consumption, and high nitrification and denitrification efficiency.
BAF filter is semi-closed or fully closed structure, its biochemical reaction is less affected by the outside temperature, suitable for sewage treatment in cold areas;
High concentration of microorganisms increases the volume load of BAF, thereby reducing the pool volume and occupation area, greatly reducing the infrastructure cost.
During the operation of the filter tank, the pollutants trapped in the filter layer and the detached biofilm are removed by backwashing, which simplifies the technological process and adopts modular structure design. Make operation and management more convenient;
